Conny Bogaard joined the Western Kansas Community Foundation in June 2015. Having directed several museums in the U.S. and Europe, she brings significant non-profit experience to her position. Conny acquired specialized development skills, especially in the areas of strategic planning and fundraising. The growing WKCF offers a stimulating environment to pursue her objectives of building stronger communities through sustained citizenship and partnership-building.
Conny has served as executive director for the Rocky Flats Institute and Museum in Arvada, CO. and was curator for the Hotel de Paris Museum in Georgetown, CO. As a museum consultant, she assisted in the development of several start-up organizations. Conny taught art history at the college level in the Denver Metro area. Prior to this appointment, Conny lectured arts cultural management at the Northern Arizona University in Flagstaff, AZ.
Conny earned a Master's in Art History with specialization in Museum Studies from the University of Utrecht, the Netherlands, and a doctorate degree in philosophy, aesthetics and art theory from the Institute for Doctoral Studies in the Visual Arts in Portland, ME. Conny has published widely on the civic role of art and museums; she is also a regular speaker at professional conferences.
