We’re gearing up for our second, consecutive Match Day on November 27th in support of the endowed nonprofits under WKCF’s administration. This year our affiliate partners at the Wichita County Community Foundation are co-hosting a parallel community fundraiser in Leoti. We are excited to welcome several new participants this year, including some new funds that were established just in time to benefit from the Match Day-dollars and promotion. A preliminary list of organizations can be found elsewhere in this Newsletter. Stay tuned for more information through the news media outlets and our own communications.
An event like this would not be possible without the support of generous sponsors who contributed to the $50,000 match pool, including Reeve Cattle Company, Brookover Land Enterprises and Dr. Luther and Ardis Fry. A complete list of our sponsors will be released in the weeks leading up to Match Day. We cannot say enough of the philanthropic heart of these local individuals, families and businesses who understand the importance of collective giving. We also want to thank the City of Garden City for its support. The City will officially proclaim Giving Tuesday (November 27th) a National Day of Giving, adding weight to our Match Day event as part of a global day of giving fueled by the power of collaboration.
Match Day on November 27th encourages donors to give above and beyond what they normally give. A gift on Match Day is not to replace a traditional annual gift but is meant as a one-time opportunity to make charitable dollars go farther. WKCF can accept many kinds of assets as charitable contributions. In addition to cash, we can accept life insurance proceeds, publicly traded stock, mutual funds, and gifts of grain. Commodities delivered through the Garden City Co-op can count towards Match Day if they’re delivered before November 27th. Please contact our office if you’re considering any of these alternative forms of giving.
Through Match Day, WKCF fulfills its mission by strengthening nonprofits and communities and with that, enhancing the quality of life in our area. We are tremendously grateful for this opportunity to bring together donors with the causes they care about.
