Charity Horinek
Charity Horinek is a Sharon Springs, Kansas, native, a fourth-generation Wallace Countian on both sides of her family, and is passionate about helping to better the lives of Western Kansans. She is the Executive Director of Grant Development at Seward County Community College (SCCC) in Liberal, and has lived in Sublette since 1993. She is also the Communications Coordinator for Liberal Area Coalition for Families (LACF). Charity holds both Master’s and Bachelor’s degrees from Fort Hays State University, as well as a B.A. in Theology/Pastoral Ministry from Newman University. Additionally, she has received professional certifications in grant writing, program evaluation, and supervisory leadership. Prior to coming to SCCC, Charity was a grant writer for Southwest Plains Regional Service Center, designing programs and procuring funding for school districts in Western Kansas and beyond.
Charity serves her community as a Haskell Township Trustee, club leader for Cloverleaf 4-H in Satanta, she is a countywide 4-H project leader, and serves on the Wild West 4-H PDC, the High Plains Heritage Foundation, Southwest Guidance Center, and Satanta Area Arts Council boards of directors, the LACF executive committee, Kansas Rabbit Breeders Association scholarship committee, the Kansas Explorer’s Club, and is a member of the Noon Kiwanis Club in Liberal. Charity has previously served on the Sublette Centennial Committee, Sublette Elementary After School advisory board, Sublette PTO executive board, and the Kiwanis Foundation of Kansas board, among others. Charity was also a co-founder of the String Academy of the Plains.
Charity and her husband Mark love spending time with their six children and three grandchildren. She is an avid reader and crafter, and enjoys long road trips exploring the U.S.
