March Grant Awards

$21,350.39 Awarded to 14 Organizations

In March, 14 local nonprofit organizations were awarded grants totaling $21,350.39 from the Community Betterment Fund, the Kansas Health Foundation Children’s Fund, and various Field of Interest and Unrestricted funds. The March grant cycle is the first of three grant cycles offered by Western Kansas Community Foundation each year. Other grant deadlines are July 1st and November 1st.  

For the March grant cycle, the Grants Committee reviewed 21 applications.

THE AWARDS ARE AS FOLLOWS:

ABC Pregnancy Care Center "Curriculum Updates and Addition for Learn & Earn" - $3,049 for 11 modules of updated curriculum for parents and caregivers covering pregnancy through 1 year of age.



GC Buffalo Robotics "Summer Robotics Camp" - $1,600 for shared materials needed for the 2018 “Mission to Mars” themed summer camp for 3rd-12th graders.  



Community Day Care Center "Providing a Safe & Healthy Environment" - $2,288.39 to purchase new nap mats and high chairs for the 8th Street location.



Finney County Historical Society "An Evening in the Past" - $250 to cover a portion of the presenter fee for “An Evening in the Past” presentation called “Cattle Towns and Soiled Doves.”



Garden City Arts "Art in the Park 2018" - $1,750 to help cover the costs of local musicians and performers for this year’s event.  



Gray County Over 50 "Gray County Over 50 Center Updates" - $2,000 to cover the remaining costs of new carpet for the facility.



Great Plains Development "Building a Stronger Rural Kansas Through Community Development" - $578 for supply expenses associated with meetings and informational resources.



Jana's Campaign "Reducing Violence in Western Kansas: A Growth Enhancement Project" - $1,185 for curriculum and materials needed to provide comprehensive gender and relationship violence prevention programs for middle and high school students.



Kearny County Development "Digital Cemetery and Veteran's Memorial Directory" - $1,500 to assist with costs of purchasing a digital directory for the cemetery.



Oasis of Peace "I'm Possible, Medication Coverage" - $1,000 to cover the costs of over the counter medications for women served.



Real Men Real Leaders "Making Memories" - $1,650 to purchase 30 digital cameras to be used year-round for presentations and scrapbooks. 



Smoky Hills Public TV "Literacy Leadership for Children in SW KS" - $1,500 for books related to the children’s literacy programs.



Southwest Kansas Live On Stage "Community Concert Support" - $1,500 to support costs of 2018 performances.



Tumbleweed Festival "Friday Night Kick-Off Stage" - $1,500 to assist with the cost of one performance during the Friday night kick-off events.
