WKCF Holdings, LLC was established in 2019 to manage the donated farm ground from two separate trusts, the Gordanier and Mersereau charitable trusts. When the executors of the two trusts began searching for succession options for the farm ground they were responsible for, a connection with the Western Kansas Community Foundation led to the creation of the LLC. WCKF Holdings, LLC now manages the nearly $3 million farm ground which consists of various acreage including dry-land, irrigated, CRP, and pasture ground all found within Finney County, Kansas and Hitchcock County, Nebraska. The holding company, which has its own board of managers consisting of local farmers and farm experts from Southwest Kansas, works with tenants of the farm ground to ensure it is properly utilized and maintained while under the renters’ care. A portion of the rental income from the ground will be used to cover management costs, however, the rest of the annual income will be added to WKCF donor funds for granting purposes based on the original donors’ charitable interests.
