The Western Kansas Community Foundation (WKCF) is to provide urgent needs grants in response to the COVID-19 crisis. The grants will be made to eligible nonprofits from the newly established Urgent Needs Fund with the Foundation. Several donors have generously contributed to the fund, most notably Dr. Luther and Ardis Fry, Black Hills Energy, Keller Leopold Insurance, and Pioneer Communications. WKCF will begin accepting applications May 1st, 2020. Grants will be made on a rolling basis, and continue while funds last.
In 2010 the Western Kansas Alliance of Community Foundation was formed with the express goal to provide support and partnerships on philanthropic giving through Community Foundations to Western Kansas communities.
The Women of Purpose Fund was established in 2008 by southwest Kansas area women who made donations to build a permanently endowed fund with a current value of over $200,000 to support local programs focused on issues affecting women.
